Fears of climate crisis stimulate global day of action


It's been billed as a youth climate strike. Just prior to the UN's 2019 Climate Action Summit meeting, student protesters have been pouring into the streets demanding that governments take urgent action to decrease the emission of greenhouse gases and slow the alarming rate of climate change.

And it's not just school kids. Employees from Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Twitter have also walked off the job to demand action. But loud complaints seldom garner much change without a long-term commitment to lobbying. Most governments, even the most oppressive ones, will eventually respond to effective widely supported public pressure.
